Double joists are essential at butt joints because they provide individual support for each board end. Every board must be fixed independently, and this can only be achieved when there is a dedicated joist beneath each adjoining board.

Using two separate fixing clips—one for each board end—prevents boards from sharing a single clip. This is crucial because:
