Our Heavy Duty Weed Membrane
Choosing heavy duty weed membrane gives you extra peace of mind when it comes to preventing unwanted plant growth. As an effective weed control method, installing our weed membrane first will eliminate the need to remove weeds from underneath decking boards later down the line.
With a 100gsm thickness and 2m wide, our weed membrane and pins bundle will give you the best possible coverage and protection, remaining breathable once installed to allow nutrients and water to pass through to the soil while preventing sunlight from entering.

How to Install Your Weed Membrane
Once you’ve decided on the area to be covered, clear away existing plants, weeds or materials that might be obstructing the ground. Remove any turf and make sure the ground is level before laying weed membrane.
Ensure you have enough weed membrane to cover the full area without gaps. Allow for adequate overlap of membrane to prevent weeds growing through, pinning down where required.
Finish installing the weed membrane with a suitable covering such as chippings, bark or stones so no membrane is exposed. Covering the membrane will extend the lifespan of the fabric and prevent weed growth for years to come.
FAQs

A thin layer of sand can be put down under the membrane to protect the material, however, this is not necessary for weed membrane to work effectively.

If installed correctly, plants will not grow through heavy duty weed membrane. It’s important to effectively remove all plants and their roots before laying weed membrane down to prevent this.
Can I put weed control fabric over weeds?
We do not recommend installing weed membrane over existing weeds or plants, as this will not guarantee to stop them from growing and may possibly damage the fabric.
Can water pass through garden membrane?
Yes. Cladco heavy duty weed membrane allows for water and nutrients to pass through to the soil underneath, while preventing natural daylight from entering.
