Do Cladco recycled plastic joists move or change shape over time?
Yes, some movement is expected. Plas-Pro is made from recycled plastic, so slight bowing can occur, especially when exposed to heat.
How should Cladco recycled plastic joists be stored before installation?
To help prevent the material from bowing:
- Store on flat, level ground
- Keep it out of direct sunlight where possible
- Avoid placing it on uneven or sloped surfaces
Direct sunlight can cause the lengths to warm up and bend.
What should I do if Cladco recycled plastic joists becomes bowed?
If you notice deformation:
- Place the board in the sun, but flip it over, so the opposite side heats up
- As the material warms, it will naturally begin to straighten
This is a known and manageable characteristic of recycled plastic products.
Will Cladco recycled plastic joists bow once it’s installed?
Once fitted, the boards and decking above help insulate the subframe from temperature changes. This reduces the chance of movement.
