FAQs

Cladding battens need to be at least 25mm thick to provide adequate ventilation and structural support for the cladding boards. This minimum applies to all of our cladding battens, including recycled plastic, composite, and timber, ensuring they perform reliably across a wide range of projects.

To fit cladding battens, secure each one by drilling at least 50mm into the solid surface behind to ensure proper anchorage. Battens should be spaced no more than 50cm apart horizontally (centre‑to‑centre), creating a stable framework for the cladding. Our non‑combustible metal battens come unpunched, allowing you to fix your battens precisely where you need to.

Screwing is recommended, as it provides a more secure and controlled fixing. Mark up the board, pre‑drill pilot holes, and then fasten it to the supporting battens using suitable screws. This method reduces the risk of splitting and helps keep the boards firmly in place over time.

No. Our cladding battens are not supplied with a specific fire rating. However, our non‑combustible metal battens offer the highest level of fire resistance within the range.

While our recycled plastic, composite, and timber battens are suitable for a wide variety of projects, they do not provide the same level of fire performance as the metal option.

I wasnt sure if metal battens were worth it but glad I tried them. The 50mm width did the trick for my composite cladding. Easy enough to screw in and felt proper solid once up. Staff on the phone were sound too, answered all my questions. Would buy again.

I used these on a metal cladding job, big frontage, and they held up spot on. None of that twisting you get with timber. Heavy duty but still manageable to fit. Will defo use again

I grabbed these along with the metal battens. Happy with them. They bit into the brickwork better than the screws I had leftover from another job. No complaints from me.
