Grey composite decking has been a popular colour choice in gardens for many years. Its variety of timeless shades blend seamlessly with almost all exterior aesthetics and provides a natural palette that can be customised with furniture, plants and accessories without clashing.

Composite decking has a wood-plastic composition, meaning boards require virtually no maintenance and are hard-wearing with excellent durability. Cladco composite decking boards are guaranteed for 10 years and so will last for years to come, without going out of style.

STONE GREY

Stone Grey Composite Decking Boards

Our Signature composite decking boards in Stone Grey are the perfect happy medium when it comes to shades of grey for outside projects. The natural, pebble tone works perfectly with both traditional and contemporary garden designs, and is easy to match with furniture and composite decking trims to complete the look.

LIGHT GREY

Light Grey Composite Decking Boards

Perfect for long summer days in the garden, or for those with small children, our Signature composite decking boards bring a bright spacious feel to your garden. This paler, airy shade of grey means that the boards reflect light away more successfully, making them less hot under the heat of the sun.

CHARCOAL

Charcoal Composite Decking Boards

Perhaps the most modern within our grey coloured Signature composite boards is Charcoal, the darkest ‘grey’ colour in this selection. This neutral toned colour especially complements small outdoor spaces. These deep shades may become overpowering when installed on large decking areas. They will typically absorb more heat from the sun and become warmer to the touch when compared with lighter greys. The addition of brighter, more colourful garden accessories is a great way to break up the dark grey boards.

Grey colours in our ProDeck composite decking range

PLATINUM

This strong grey in our ProDeck composite decking range brings a bold yet elegant character to any outdoor environment. As the lightest shade of grey available within the collection, the Platinum boards are especially well-suited for those seeking a clean, modern aesthetic.

ONYX

The darkest shade of our ProDeck boards, Onyx treads the line between grey and black to create a stylish and bold decking area or picture frame edging. Although these boards are darker, the capping feature of Cladco ProDeck means that these boards have a higher resistance to UV in comparison to Signature boards, and will not fade.

CONTRASTING COLOURS

Although blending similar shades of grey together is a great design option, contrasting grey with pops of other colours can also be a fantastic way to breathe life into your outdoor space.

The projects below have taken the chilled shades of grey in the decking and contrasted them. Introducing more natural, warmer brown and timber components within the adjacent cladding brings warmth and interest to the final result of the garden, bringing traditional and contemporary tones together.

Adding bright furniture like orange chairs, green cushions and potted plants can help to tie the aesthetics together, making your grey decking area a more colourful place to relax.

PICTURE FRAMING

Another popular way to enhance your grey decking project and create more of a statement is to add a picture frame effect. This means finishing your deck area with a different colour or shade to create a feature decking and ‘frame’ surrounding the original decking boards.

For a solid, rounded-edge finish to the edge of your decking, install the appropriate Signature composite bullnose board or ProDeck composite bullnose board. This will not only create a picture frame effect, it will protect your decking boards and subframe from potential damage.

FAQs

What is the best grey for a decking area, light or dark grey?

This all comes down to personal preference and what colour would best suit your space, its decor and personal style. The lighter greys are less likely to show any light marks and will fade less in direct sunlight in comparison to darker greys.

Does grey composite decking fade?

Our Signature composite decking in grey may be subject to fading due to exposure to the sun and other weather elements. Cladco ProDeck composite decking boards on the other hand have a polymer capping, which increases resistance to UV and therefore fades less over time.

Does grey composite decking get hot?

Our composite decking is designed to retain as little heat as possible, and in comparison to completely plastic decking, will become less hot to the touch on warm, summer days. The temperature of the decking will depend on the type of grey selected and weather.
