About Our Cleader Rail

This L-shaped galvanised steel profile, often known as a cleader angle, is designed to create a neat and secure fixing face at gable ends. The 60mm x 60mm x 3m cleader rail provides a reliable edge detail where vertical cladding or sheeting meets the end of a roof, giving your project a tidy finish and a strong fixing point. Made from 1.5mm galvanised steel, it offers excellent resistance to corrosion and is suitable for both domestic and commercial applications.

The profile works effectively alongside roof purlins, helping to tidy exposed purlin ends and improve the appearance of the gable edge. Its simple, durable shape allows it to be fitted either to the top or underside of the purlins, depending on the sheeting layout or the preferred detail at the gable. This creates a straight, consistent surface for attaching vertical cladding materials such as composite or fibre cement boards.

Benefits of Cleader Rails

  • Creates a clean and secure fixing face at gable ends
  • Supports vertical cladding and sheeting for a professional finish
  • Made from 1.5mm galvanised steel for long-lasting durability
  • Easy to fit to either the top or underside of purlins
  • Lightweight enough for easy handling on site

Built from high-quality galvanised steel, the cleader rail is designed for long-term outdoor performance. The protective coating helps prevent rust and weathering, and at just under 3kg per length, it is easy to handle on site while still offering dependable strength for fixing.

Please note: Jointing cleats are not supplied, so installers will need to create their own joining method if required.

Specifications

  • Size: 60mm x 60mm x 3m
  • Thickness: 1.5mm
  • Material: Galvanised steel
  • Weight (Approx.): 2.92kg
  • Installation: Top or underside of purlins
  • Expansion gap: 6mm recommended

Fixing Guidance

For installation, screws suitable for light steel are recommended to ensure a firm hold through the 1.5mm steel and into the purlins beneath. When fitting several lengths, leave a 6mm expansion gap between each joint. Jointing cleats are not supplied, so installers will need to create their own joining method where required.

This cleader rail can be used as part of a wider roofing system and works well alongside flashings, cladding, and gable trims. For additional installation advice, visit the Help & Advice page.

Customer Collection Notice

Please ensure you have pre-booked your collection slot before travelling to site.

When arriving to collect your order, please report to a member of our Warehouse Team who will register your arrival and locate your goods. Once ready, your items will be picked and brought to your vehicle loading area.

During busy periods, there may be a short wait while our yard team assist other customers or complete other loading tasks. We always do our best to work within your booked collection time.

We respectfully draw your attention to the following important points:

  • Loading is ultimately the customer’s responsibility. While our team can assist with mechanical loading using forklifts, we cannot handball items into enclosed vehicles. Customers must ensure their vehicle is suitable and that goods are safely loaded and adequately secured before leaving the premises.
  • Sharp sheeting, metal goods, and long/heavy items may pose additional handling risks. Please come prepared with high-quality protective gloves, and any appropriate protection materials to avoid damage to your vehicle or restraints (e.g. ropes or straps). The edges of roofing sheets and metal products can be extremely sharp, and care should be taken when handling.
  • We strongly recommend that customers bring their own straps, ropes, or other securing materials, as we are unable to provide these at the point of collection.
  • If you are unsure of your vehicle’s load capacity, we can advise the approximate weight of your order in advance. It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is suitable for transporting the goods safely and legally.
  • Cladco will not be held liable for any damage to your vehicle or goods once they have been loaded and leave our premises. Loading assistance is provided entirely at the customer’s own risk.

Arrived well protected and completely straight. Fixes easily and strong enough to support the cladding. Will order more for the other end of the building. Word of warning, though, the edges can be quite sharp, so best to make sure you wear suitable gloves.

We used these on a commercial refurbishment project to tidy the purlin ends along the gable. They’re robust, uniform in size and fix securely without twisting. The finish looks very clean compared to leaving the purlins exposed. Fast delivery too.
