Purlins are the horizontal beams that are used to attach sheeted roofs and vertical wall cladding sitting between the sheeting and the primary building or wall structure. When supporting vertical wall cladding they are also known as rails.
The purlins required for a particular application will vary with the thickness of the sheet or panel, the pitch of the roof and prevalent weather and loading conditions.
We manufacture a wide range of cold rolled steel purlins including Z section and C section purlins. Our Z section range includes profiles with heights of 140mm, 175mm and 200mm and gauges (thickness) of 1.6mm, 1.8mm and 2mm. Our purlins are available in most lengths and made from high tensile structural grade steel with a galvanised coating.
We also supply a range of fixing screws for attaching sheeting to purlins and weld or bolt on cleats for attaching purlins to principals (e.g. the buildings primary rafters). Anti-sag bars are also available to help during wind uplift conditions.
